As we movedeeper and deeper into the novel, we discover that we can narrow prevail overGatsbys characteristics down to a few adjectives. One of the mainadjectives that can be written onto Jay Gatsby is ambitious. We cansay to a very large extent that Gatsbys character is very ambitious.There are several different occasions that can support thingsargument. For instance, why does Gatsby throw all his lavish parties?He throws them in ready to seduce and get Daisys attention. This isdirectly related to his ambition for getting Daisy, since he nevergives up his nave view on his love for Daisy. He has thrown so manyparties that it is now a custom for everyone to book Gatsbysmansion on their Saturdays in their calendars. He never surrendersand feels despondent over Daisy, yet instead he strives harder andharder as the days go by to seduce her. This is a solid proof of hisambition for love. He has such a strong willed heart that he willnever let go of it until the day he dies which is what happens. Inaddition he never realised that maybe he cant ever have Daisy, but ofcourse his ambition has worked too hard to give up when hes try forso long.Another great example of his ambition is his business and his strivingto become a permanent member of the upper-class. For years he hastried to do great business with Wolfshiem, to get into the rightdeals, in order to enhance his wealth and set up his position in WestEgg. He isnt a part of the established wealth however through buyinghis way into everything, especially the social life and Daisys hearthe thinks he can be a part of the East Egg lifestyle.
